For many years, I served as a pastor, a journey that deeply shaped my understanding of faith, community, and the questions people genuinely grapple with. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School, immersing myself in biblical scholarship and theology. Yet, I often saw a disconnect: how do we translate rigorous academic insights into real, confident conversations about faith? How do we help earnest Christians feel equipped to speak with skeptics without resorting to debates or simplistic answers? This very challenge became my driving force. I experienced firsthand the “burden” of feeling ill-equipped to bridge this gap – not due to a lack of faith, but because believers often don’t know where to find accessible tools that go beyond easy answers to uncover the Bible’s deepest messages to us. This personal quest led to the creation of The Unburdened Word.
My background blends practical ministry experience with a robust academic foundation. In addition to my Master of Divinity, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Applied Communication from Appalachian State University, and have specialized certifications in Nonprofit Management, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Project Management from Google and Duke University. This diverse foundation informs my unique approach at The Unburdened Word:
